Petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries -- Sector-specific quality management systems -- Requirements for product and service supply organizations

ISO/TS 29001:2010 was developed to meet the needs of the oil and gas industry, specifically the major petroleum, petrochemical, and natural gas organizations, as well as, government and regulatory agencies, as the basis for qualification of the quality management systems of equipment manufacturers and service suppliers.

ISO/TS 29001:2010, is the result of cooperation between the American Petroleum Institute (API) and ISO technical committee ISO/TC 67. In conjunction with API and ISO product specifications, it will be used as one of the baseline documents in the API Monogram program for the qualification of products and services used in the petroleum industry.

For organizations working within the oil and gas industry supply chain, certification to ISO/TS 29001 represents a significant opportunity for standardization and improvement. First published in 2003, it was developed by ISO and the international oil and gas industry, led by the American Petroleum Institute (API).

As a leading provider of management system certification and associated training services to the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries, IEI is in an ideal position to provide services to this international technical specification.

How can ISO/TS 29001 benefit my organization?

ISO/TS 29001:2010 provide additional requirements to ISO 9001 specifically intended for the petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries.

It is envisaged that it will become the common basis for the industry’s quality management systems requirements worldwide so helping to reduce or eliminate multiple assessments with the additional benefits of reduction in disruption to the business, associated paperwork and costs. Increasingly, organizations within the supply chain will need certification against this standard in order to secure contracts.

This technical specification aims at the development of a quality management system that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain and from service providers.
